# H.265

<figure><img src="/files/fG7keU1Qo7mODtodD6Ne" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Tin Man provides robust H.265 (HEVC) export settings for delivering high-efficiency video across different platforms. Options may vary slightly between Windows and macOS.

**Bitrate Mode**

*(Windows only unless noted)*

* **Variable** – Bitrate adjusts dynamically based on content complexity
* **Constant** – Maintains a fixed bitrate throughout
* **Constant QP (Quantization Parameter)** – Fixed frame quality for consistent visual fidelity
* **Auto** *(macOS)* – System selects optimal bitrate mode

**Target / Max Bitrate (Mbps)**

* Adjustable from **0.1 Mbps** to **400 Mbps**
* Applicable to Variable and Constant bitrate modes

**Quality / Speed Tradeoff**

* Adjust the encoder to prioritize **faster encoding** with lower quality, or **higher quality** with slower export speeds
* Useful for balancing visual fidelity vs. performance

**Profile / Level**

* **Windows:**
  * **Main** – For 8-bit 4:2:0 encoding
  * **Main 10** – For 10-bit 4:2:0 encoding (when supported)
* **macOS (Apple Silicon):**

  * **Main**

  * **Main 10**

  * **Main422 8-bit**

  * **Main422 10-bit**

  > *Enables 4:2:2 encoding for higher-fidelity workflows on Apple Silicon*

**Tier**

* **Windows:** Choose between **Main** or **High** tier
* **macOS:** Automatically selected based on encoding parameters

**Hardware Encoding**

* Enables or disables **GPU-accelerated encoding**, reducing export time when supported by your system

**GOP (Group of Pictures) Settings**

* **GOP Type**\
  Choose between:
  * **I-Frames Only** – Ideal for editing workflows
  * **IPB** – Includes P and B frames for improved compression
* **GOP Size**\
  Sets the number of frames between I-frames
* **IDR Interval**
  * **Windows:** Manually configurable (up to 50× the GOP size)
  * **macOS:** Managed automatically by the system
