Playback Viewer

To import files for playback, use the File Import window either by clicking on the file import icon in the File List Window or choosing "Import Files" from the File Menu. Or simply drag-n-drop your media files from the operating system to either the File List window or the Playback Viewer window.

The Player Control window has many options on controlling playback and how to view the media.

The media controls from left-to-right and top-to-bottom are:

Top

  • Display View - This controls how big or small the media appears in the Playback viewer. This can also be adjusted using the middle scroll of a mouse.

  • File Name - Right-clicking on the file name will open a pop-up window with the options to:

    • Show In Explore or Finder - this will show the location of the file in the operating system

    • Interpret Properties - this will open up a window to set timecode and audio properties

    • Add to Export Queue - this will add the selected files to the export queue and they then will become locked

  • Playback Resolution - This option will only appear if a media file can playback at a lower resolution. This can be useful to help with realtime playback on systems that cannot support realtime playback at full resolution.

  • Playback Bit Depth - This option will only appear if a media file has a normal bit depth and a higher bit depth to use for playback. This can be useful to help with realtime playback on systems that cannot support realtime playback at a higher bit depth.

  • Control Options (three dots button) - This will a window with the following options for the Control Panel

    • Auto-Hide - Off/On/Full Screen Only, Playback Only - options for hiding the Control Panel

    • Position - Options for the Control Panel position: Locked to Viewer, Locked Overlay, Mini Controls

    • Mouse - Options to enable/disable mouse controls: L-Button Move Image, Wheel Scroll Zoom, R-Button Get Pixel Color

Middle

  • In Point - This is the in point for the media. You can Left mouse button down on the control and move side-side to adjust the in point, double-click on the control to manually enter the in point and right click on the control to reset the in point. You can also set the in point by pressing 'i' on the keyboard

  • Frame Position Slider - You can use the Frame Position Slider to scrub to different frames in the media. Right-clicking on the slider will show a menu that enables you to: Set the In position to the current frame, set the Out position to the current frame, Go to the In point, Go to the Out point, Clear the In point, Clear the Out point, or Clear both the In and Out points.

  • Out Point - This is the out point for the media. You can Left mouse button down on the control and move side-side to adjust the out point, double-click on the control to manually enter the out point and right click on the control to reset the out point. You can also set the out point by pressing 'o' on the keyboard

Bottom

  • Current Frame - This is the current frame for the media. You can Left mouse button down on the control and move side-side to seek to a new frame, double-click on the control to manually enter the new frame to go to and right click on the control to change the time representation to: Run Time, Frames, Time Code or Time Left

  • Look Options - You can easily enable/disable the Look Color Space or the Monitor Color Space or Monitor LUT

  • Playback Controls - The playback controls allow you to play, frame adv/reverse, and go to the prev/next interesting point. More playback controls using the keyboard can be found in the Keyboard Controls section. Right-clicking on the Playback button will produce a menu to change to type of playback to: Play once, Loop, Play In To Out, Loop In To Out, Playlist

  • Full Screen - This will allow you to enter/exit Full Screen mode. Also the keys Shift + f will do the same.

  • Volume Control - This controls the overall volume of the audio for the media. You can control the individual audio channels volume in the Audio Mapping panel. Left-clicking the mouse on the control will mute/unmute the audio. Right-clicking the mouse on the control will show options to use dB, bars, or percent to represent how loud the audio is, also you can turn on/off scrubbing audio.
